IMPACT THE FUTURE OF B.C. AND ITS ECONOMY
Chief Operating Officer
How do you stimulate and support economic growth for the Province of British Columbia? One of the most effective strategies is to have a highly skilled workforce of professional trades people. The Industry Training Authority (ITA) was established by the Government of B.C. as a Crown Agency to expand and improve industry training through the creation of a more flexible, accountable and industry-led system. Its key objective, and competitive difference, is to keep training programs in tune with an ever-changing labour market.
Reporting to the CEO, you will assist in the creation of strategic and operational plans and forge relationships with employers, training institutions, industry associations, and learners. As the COO, you will oversee all corporate functions, including finance, IT, and HR, as well as policy development as it relates to industry training in British Columbia. You are open to change and will foster continuous dialogue and improvement. You will put ITA at the forefront of determining which skills are required now, and will be required over the horizon to fuel the Provincial economy.
As the ideal candidate, you bring a mix of experience that could include working with unions, experience with industry training issues, and a general knowledge of the workplace issues facing British Columbia. This experience could have been gained in the private sector in HR or operations roles or the public sector in a college, association or training environment. With exceptional interpersonal skills, a strong financial skill set and excellent communication skills, you will immediately add value to the Industry Training Authority.
